Optimizing Social Media Engagement Through A/B Testing

This project explores how different visual styles impact social media engagement by comparing authentic boutique imagery with professional model photography.

The Problem

Boutique brands rely heavily on social media, but content decisions are often based on model aesthetics rather than real people and performance data. This makes it difficult to determine which visual strategies actually drive engagement.

The Goal

The goal of this project was to use A/B testing to identify which type of imagery generates stronger audience interaction and better connects with the brand’s audience.

Reflection & Takeaways *

This project showed how a single visual change can significantly impact social media performance. While professional imagery offers a polished and consistent aesthetic, it may not always create the strongest connection with audiences. In contrast, real boutique imagery introduces authenticity and relatability, which can play a key role in driving engagement.

From a strategic perspective, this reinforced the importance of testing over assumption-based decisions. Rather than relying on what looks best, A/B testing provides clearer insight into what actually performs. Even small creative changes, such as the choice of imagery, can influence how users interact with content and perceive a brand.
